Helping To Keep Your Child’s Teeth Healthy

While Progressive Dental provides quality, personal care all year long, in February we like to focus on promoting healthy dental habits to the children at our local schools and agencies. Last month we had the pleasure of being welcomed into the classrooms of 28 schools and presenting to over 5,350 students.

From ages 3-13, we crafted engaging and fun presentations and sparked some interesting questions from our little audience. We read stories, played games, and demonstrated proper brushing and flossing techniques.

From a very young age, proper dental hygiene is key to maintaining long-term dental health. Once teeth begin to show, parents should brush their children’s teeth with a child-sized toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste twice each day. We recommend scheduling a child’s first dental visit no later than their first birthday and continuing regular check-ups every six months.

While some children may be wary of visiting the dentist, we believe that by coming into the classroom, we can present healthy dental habits in a fun way to help ease their dental fears. By demonstrating that visiting the dentist can be a positive experience, children will be more likely to keep their teeth healthy and clean as they grow up.

We would like to thank all of the local schools for allowing us to present to their students. Each student was given a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss to take home. We appreciate how wonderful all of the students were, and we look forward to returning next year!
