Progressive Dental completed its 21st annual Doctors with a Heart Day on September 24th, providing free dental care services to those in need.
This year’s event brought together 66 local volunteers, 10 of which were Doctors, to Progressive Dental’s locations throughout the Southern Tier and Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each office spent 4-6 hours providing necessary treatments to men, women and children who could not otherwise afford them. Of the many treatment services provided, 62 cleanings were completed, allowing those patients a fresh start with a clean mouth. With such a strong effort, over $65,000 in services were donated by Progressive Dental’s staff, doctors and local volunteers just this year.
After over twenty years as part of this national event, Dr. Sonny Spera is thankful for all of the support Progressive Dental gets each year. With six months’ advance preparation, DWAH day is a proud event for all those involved. Next year, he shared, will be the most exciting year yet as the Progressive Dental’s total service contribution to the cause will reach one million dollars.
Considering all of the good this annual event has done for the community and all of the volunteers that have come out to support this day, one of Dr. Spera’s favorite quotes holds strong; “Nothing great was ever accomplished without passion.”
