Progressive Dental is dedicated to providing the best dental care to patients both young and old. As February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, the Progressive Dental team is kicking off a new year of dental health awareness.

Since proper dental care begins at a young age, Progressive Dental organizes programs to educate children on proper dental hygiene. Staff members visit local schools and children’s programs to spread awareness of the importance of oral care. From nursery schools to 5th-grade classrooms, the Progressive Dental team teaches children about daily habits that will help them maintain a healthy mouth.

Led by Dixie Kucharski, Progressive Dental’s Patient Care Advocate, and the staff of Progressive Dental including Kelly Gorski, Keithandra, Becky, and Tracy the staff takes part in presentations insides classrooms. Together they use jokes, videos and interactive games to teach kids how to brush, when to floss, how long to brush, and other dental care tips. To ensure students have the tools they need to be mouth healthy, each visit concludes with goodie bags for each child, filled with toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and more.

Progressive Dental further supports children’s education through scholarships and programs, including the Susquehanna County Literacy Program, Maine Endwell Dollars for Scholars, Student Veterans of America and our very own Progressive Dental Community Scholarship. The team believes that empowering children’s education benefits the community by promoting health wellbeing among our future professionals and leaders.

This dedication to supporting children even goes beyond education and into the dental chair. To promote comfort with at-home and in-office dental care, all five offices welcome parents to schedule a quick meet and greet with our staff to sooth anxiety and fears before the child’s initial appointment. While some children may have aversions to visiting the dentist, most fears can be minimized with educational presentations and interaction with the friendly staff. Showing children that visiting the dentist is a positive experience can lead them to a life of clean teeth and healthy smiles.

By providing the building blocks for dental health at a young age Progressive Dental hopes children within our communities will have happy, healthy smiles for years to come!
